                  Introduction -- Purpose and Invitation

The concept behind Experimental Helicopter is simple: To provide a print magazine with an associated web site, within which to deliver articles and material from a technical and how-to focus, by and for the amateur builder, owner, pilot and enthusiast.

Dedicated to covering all brands, personally developed ships as well as components and services, EH’s aim is to cover the entire field. There are currently about twelve kit companies, several individual ships, many developing and developed components and several custom services available.

Companies operate through out the world, just as builders, owners and pilots work through out the world. All of these and you are our source of information as well as our audience.

So, to our source/audience, without whom nothing will happen, we request and propose that first, you read the introductory issue and then subscribe and/or advertise. You can complete your subscription electronically (and very securely) via PayPal

Next, definitely share this issue with each and all of your helicopter and rotorcraft enthusiastic friends, asking them to also contact us.

Throughout the past year we, Stu and I, have been kneading over the idea of creating a magazine dedicated to amateur built, experimental helicopters. Asking a goodly number of friends and cohorts we received ample suggestions to fill many suggestion boxes for years to come. One friend even said, “Don’t, you won’t make a dime”. However on the whole, we were encouraged and pushed from many sides. Making bushels of $$ is not our goal, nor our reason to embark on EH. We think there are enough potential subscribers and advertisers in our niche to cover the financial needs of the publication and an associated web site.

Our reasons begin with a deep involvement in experimental helicopters, their building, modifying, developing of new designs, learning, flying and generally all things amateur built and personally flown helicopters. Add to that our adventuresome natures and thorough enjoyment of new projects and you have some idea of our interest.

However, with our own helicopter to experiment with and innumerable other projects in the works for both, we have taken our time reaching this final decision.

We hope you will take the time now to read and subscribe, to advertise if appropriate and to contribute your stories, ideas, comments, and any other material you feel appropriate. As Goose Pohlman,CFI-H (see pg 8) said about her stint with a long ago chapter newsletter, “No publication is really good when it becomes Mother Goose’s missive”.
